Within Biotechnology there is a large area that corresponds to the use of optics as a basic element of performance. This is a fast-growing area located on the frontier of technologies applied to the use of biomass, pest control, diseases in agriculture and in humans, as well as bio stimulation in productive processes.

The area has a great industrial relevance. Using optics as a basic element, we are able to develop from intelligent surgical foci, cancer treatment system, optical fluorescence diagnostic system, ultrasonic scalpel, microbiological control, among others.
