The Tecgraf / PUC-Rio Institute is accredited as an EMBRAPII Unit in the area of Computational Solutions in Engineering to develop complex technical-scientific computing systems that require advanced research and innovative solutions covering the following competences: Graphics Computing, Process Automation and Industrial Projects, Computational Simulation, Logistics, Optimization and Operational Research, Distributed Systems.
With the mission of uniting new knowledge and technologies generated by academic research with the development of computer systems for industry, Tecgraf / PUC-Rio carries out projects on demand and in partnership with several academic departments of PUC-Rio. The Institute counts on a highly specialized team, including masters and doctors, who works across the different competences.
The extensive Tecgraf/PUC-Rio portfolio included the Oil and Gas areas with systems geared to the exploration chain, production and supply chain; Digital Entertainment with the creation of graphic software for TV; Medicine with emphasis on image processing; Security with serious games; and Automotive in the area of topological optimization.
Successful projects carried out in partnership with EMBRAPII:
- Partnership with the Pareto Group company: Data analysis, statistics and Machine Learning to enhance the company’s algorithm used to automate the management of digital marketing campaigns.
- Partnership with Safran Brasil Company: Development of a system to increase the intelligence and efficiency of the operational process of inspection and maintenance of helicopter engines.
With more than 30 years, the Tecgraf/PUC-Rio Institute has a trajectory that is based on the technical-scientific progress of the country. Founded in 1987, as a laboratory of the IT Department of PUC-Rio, Tecgraf/PUC-Rio is the result of a scientific and technological exchange agreement signed between PUC-Rio and Petrobras. In 2013, it became an institute of PUC-Rio, directly linked to the Vice-Rector of Development, with the commitment to maintain a bridge between university, society and industry. Throughout more than three decades, Tecgraf/PUC-Rio has expanded its skills and areas of expertise, establishing itself as a solid and traditional institution in the country’s computing technology sector.
