The INERGE-UFJF Unit is accredited to work in Electric Power Systems Technology, which includes the expertise of INERGE (National Institute of Science and Technology in Electric Energy) researchers in executing, since 2009, RD&I projects to meet the demands of electricity and renewable energy generation, transmission, distribution, operation, and regulation companies. The sub-lines of the unit line of activity are:

Distributed energy resources: encompassing the development of solutions, tools, and computer systems/software to manage distributed energy resources involving distributed generation, energy storage (batteries), intelligent electric vehicles, and electrical grid big data, contemplating the optimization and active management of grids, including alternative sources. Additionally, it encompasses the use of real-time simulation (RTDS), digital twin, and blockchain.

Electronic, optical, and telecommunications equipment: encompassing the development of solutions, electronic equipment, telecommunications (5G and 6G), IoT, and power electronics to monitor, supervise, and control energy systems, from sensing (including optical sensors) to wired or wireless information transmission systems, always considering privacy and information security. It also stands out for its ability to build hardware and firmware and develop signal processing algorithms and learning machine for electrical power systems.

Asset maintenance, supervision, and inspection: encompassing the development of solutions, tools, and software to survey and identify problems and, consequently, maintain assets in electrical power systems, especially for assets in hard-to-reach locations which generate costs and risks to those involved, including the digitization of electrical power systems. For this, it comprises the use of robotics tools, computational intelligence, software, and advanced sensing.

The INERGE/UFJF Unit has an excellent research infrastructure which is composed of 11 complementary laboratories to develop processes, products, and solutions for Electrical Power Systems, resulting in a favorable environment for research and innovation toward cooperation and partnerships with national and international industries.

Following a path of excellence, the Unit customizes its executions to individually meet the demands of each company, always seeking the agile management of all processes. All our work is done with cooperation, transparency, respect, responsibility, and commitment to deadlines and deliveries.
